KOICA Rwanda Office held online training program on Rwanda Audio-Visual Sector Content Development

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Rwanda Office held a closing ceremony for the Capacity Building Program on ‘Rwanda Audio-Visual Sector Content Development’. The training program took place at Rwanda Management Institution (RMI) in Kigali Campus on 16^th, September 2021.

Due to COVID 19, the training was conducted virtually and 13 participants from RBA, RP, IPRCs and others working in audio-visual sector attended this online training from 6^th to 16^th September 2021. As all participant were gathered at the RMI, they had taken COVID 19 test on every 3 days to follow safety guideline of Rwanda.

The 9 days training has the objectives to provide a reference including Korea’s experiences to Rwanda’s Multimedia Industry, to help establish and manage Rwanda’s policies to activate the multimedia content industry and to raise networking opportunities between experts in Rwanda and Korea.

The training program was delivered by Busan Foundation for International Cooperation (BFIC) which was selected by KOICA as an implementing agency. The participants discussed various topics including understanding the multimedia content industry, development policy for the multimedia content industry, policy implementation strategies on the multimedia content industry, strategy for creating the startup ecosystem, country report and action learning plan.

Mr CHON Gyong Shik, KOICA Rwanda office country director explained the importance of the program in the development of Rwanda saying “It is timely and helpful to Rwandan officials for having online training program considering COVID 19 pandemic era. I hope participant’s active follow-ups to their daily work by applying what they learned through this program.”

Since it was established in Rwanda in 2011, the KOICA Rwanda office has contributed to the capacity development of more than 740 civil servants in different sectors but also has contributed to the development of Rwanda by providing grants to support development projects within Agriculture, Education and ICT sectors.
