Former MP, Dr. Mbonimana commends H.E Paul Kagame for saving him from excessive drunkenness

By Elias Hakizimana.

Dr. Mbonimana Gamariel, who was a member of the Parliament of Rwanda and resigned due to heavy drinking, thanked the President of the Republic Paul Kagame that the advice he gave him helped him free himself from the shackles of drunkenness and he no longer drinks alcohol.

In an open letter written to President Kagame, he informs him that he has published a book called ‘The Power of Keeping Sober‘ which contains advice for young people to avoid drugs.

He said: “I reminded you of my letter that I sent to you on November 15, 2022, in which I apologized for my drunken driving and told you, Your Excellency, that I have decided not to drink anymore.”

He said that since that day, from his analysis of the part of the conversation President Kagame had with Jeunne Afrique in 2011 about what President Kagame likes to drink and how he takes alcohol and other advice, Dr. Mbonimana immediately gave up alcohol.

“Even with my testimony, I decided to write this book ‘The Power of Keeping Sober‘ that encourages young people and others to avoid alcohol and drugs by following your advice.” He says.

In this book, Dr. Mbonimana also shows that the choice of what to drink can affect all corners of life be it political, social or economic.

This book consists of five parts: Testimony of Dr Mbonimana Gamariel, Legacy of President Paul Kagame’s wisdom, President Paul Kagame’s message to the youth, Clear Choices, and Walking the path of Wisdom.

Dr Mbonimana thanked President Kagame saying that his voice was like that of God and expressed that he wishes that the wisdom of the Head of State would continue to be a light that shines for the current and future generations.

“Your advice will be the answer to the questions that generations will ask now and in the future.” Dr. Mbonimana adds.
