Chief Justice Mukantaganzwa urges judiciary officials to uphold integrity and reject corruption

The President of the Supreme Court and Chairperson of the High Council of the Judiciary, Domitilla Mukantaganzwa, has called on judges and court registrars to uphold integrity and firmly reject corruption and related unethical practices, warning that they undermine effective justice delivery.

She made the remarks while presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of 10 judges and 16 court registrars recently appointed by the High Council of the Judiciary.

Mukantaganzwa emphasized the importance of quality public service within the justice system, urging judicial officers to serve citizens diligently and in accordance with the law.

She noted that registrars also play a key role in ensuring that court users are properly guided and served efficiently.

“You are expected to serve citizens well, handle cases properly, and ensure justice is delivered in line with the law,” she said.

The Chief Justice underscored that the newly sworn-in officials were selected based on their integrity, urging them to maintain high ethical standards throughout their service.

“Corruption is unacceptable, as are all behaviors that lead to it. You must uphold the integrity for which you were chosen,” she added.

Mukantaganzwa also reaffirmed the judiciary’s commitment to supporting staff in their duties and addressing challenges through consultation and teamwork.

High Court judge Hodari Edgar pledged that judicial officers will continue to uphold professionalism and deliver justice with integrity, stressing that ethical conduct remains central to their responsibilities.

One of the newly sworn-in officials, Uwera Mireille Marceline, said they are committed to strengthening justice delivery while rejecting all forms of corruption.
