Rwandan gospel singer Ishimwe Vestine has confirmed that she is seeking a legal divorce from her husband, Idrissa Jean Luc Ouédraogo, accusing him of having affairs with two other women and fathering children with them.

Vestine, a member of the gospel duo Vestine & Dorcas, confirmed the development in a brief interview with IGIHE, saying the couple had begun the legal process to end their marriage.

“I don’t want to talk about it much. What you should know is that we have started the process of legally separating after I found information and evidence that he had slept with two women and impregnated them,” she said.

Vestine did not identify the women or provide further details about the alleged relationships. However, she said she had evidence supporting the allegations and that this was among the reasons she decided to seek a divorce.

She also rejected claims that her decision was motivated by a desire to divide the couple’s property.

“I am the one who filed for divorce. I don’t want us to share anything,” she said.

The singer had previously hinted at difficulties in her marriage. In November 2025, she shared a message on social media saying she was going through a difficult period and regretted some of the choices she had made.

“At the moment, the life I am living is not the one I chose. I am going through a difficult time, and it is not what I deserve,” she wrote.

She added that she had learned from the experience and would not allow another man to deceive her and ruin her life.

Vestine and Ouédraogo married on July 5, 2025, after publicly dating and formalising their relationship through a civil marriage.

The couple’s reported separation comes just over a year after their wedding. Vestine is so far the only one to have publicly addressed the divorce proceedings and the allegations against her husband.
