Rwamagana: Search launched after groom disappears on wedding day
By The Inspirer.
Authorities in Rwamagana District have launched a search operation after a 26-year-old man went missing on the morning of his scheduled wedding.
The groom, who worked in one of the factories in the Rwamagana Industrial Park, reportedly disappeared in the early hours of 2 May 2026 from his residence in Mwulire Sector, Bishenyi Cell.
According to the wedding programme, the ceremony—including traditional introduction and dowry rituals—was due to take place the same day at Regina Pacis Rambura hall in Nyabihu District.
Preparations had already been completed, with transport arrangements in place and guests ready to travel, when efforts to reach the groom by phone failed. He could not be found at his home, and repeated calls went unanswered.
Mwulire Sector Executive Secretary Steven Rugengamanzi confirmed the incident, saying local authorities were alerted by village leaders after the groom failed to show up.
He noted that the groom had earlier contacted his fiancée, expressing concerns that some people were interfering with their wedding arrangements, before his phone became unreachable.
Authorities have urged the family to formally report the case to security organs to support ongoing investigations and search efforts.
As of now, the circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear, with no confirmed information on his whereabouts.
The groom originates from Huye District, while investigations continue to establish what may have happened on the day of the planned ceremony.
