Tragedy Strikes Nyanza: Man Beaten to Death After Goat Theft Attempt Goes Awry
By Elias Hakizimana .
In a shocking turn of events in Nyanza District, Marongi Village, Butansinda Cell, Kigoma Sector, a man named Nshimiyimana Vianney, also known as Amani, met a grim fate after being caught stealing a goat. The incident occurred at around 5:00 am on January 8, 2024.
The stolen goat belonged to Kabanda Apollinaire, who, at the time of the incident, was away from his residence in Marongi Village, working in Kigali. Nshimiyimana, accompanied by friends (thieves), attempted to pilfer the goat from Kabanda’s house.
As the thieves were in the process of digging up the house where the goat resided, the animal’s distressed cries alerted Kabanda’s wife, Mukanyandwi Florida, who immediately called for support. Quick to respond, neighbors rushed to the scene to thwart the theft.
In the ensuing chaos, the accomplices of Nshimiyimana managed to flee, leaving him behind. Seemingly intent on confrontation, Nshimiyimana engaged in a fight with non-existent adversaries, leading the enraged villagers to beat him to death.
This unfortunate incident follows a previous goat theft from Kabanda in November 2023, where his house was similarly targeted.
UMUSEKE, the news source reporting this incident, reveals that as of their investigation, the lifeless body of Nshimiyimana remained at the site of the tragedy. Despite attempts to obtain comments from the district administration, there has been no response.
