New Scripture Honors the Spiritual Legacy of Father Ubald Rugirangoga

In a heartfelt tribute to the late Father Ubald Rugirangoga, a new scripture has been unveiled on the hill named ‘Ibanga ry’Amahoro’ (the secret of peace) in Gihundwe sector, Rusizi district.

Officially introduced on January 8, 2024, the scripture stands as a poignant testament to the enduring spiritual legacy of Father Ubald, celebrated for his sacred services, which encompassed healing prayers, spiritual guidance, and dedicated efforts toward unity and reconciliation.

The inauguration ceremony coincided with a special event dedicated to remembering Father Ubald Rugirangoga, drawing individuals from diverse corners of the country to the hill—a traditional gathering place for prayers.

Father Rugirangoga, who peacefully passed away on January 7, 2021, earned acclaim in Rwanda for his healing prayers and unwavering commitment to fostering unity and reconciliation, particularly in the aftermath of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsis.

Having served as the High Priest of Cyangugu Cathedral Parish for an impressive 32 years, Father Rugirangoga transcended the confines of his parish, journeying across the country to offer prayers for the sick and share teachings on unity and reconciliation.

Born in February 1955, Father Rugirangoga’s educational odyssey led him from primary school in Rwabidege to the small seminary named after St. Pius in Nyundo. Despite facing challenges, including a brief period of exile to Burundi in 1973, he returned in 1978 to resume his education at the main seminary of Nyakibanda.

Ordained on July 22, 1984, in the Church of the Moon, Father Rugirangoga assumed the role of Director of Unity and Reconciliation programs in 2015, commencing from the Parish of Mushaka in the Diocese of Cyangugu.

Throughout his ministry, Father Rugirangoga garnered praise for his transformative teachings, recognized for instigating positive changes in interpersonal relationships.

The newly inaugurated scripture stands as a lasting tribute, symbolizing the profound and holy service rendered by Father Ubald Rugirangoga.
