Man Surrenders to RIB, Admitting to Wife’s Murder

A 42-year-old man, Niyomukesha Evariste has reported to the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) that he killed his wife, Mukeshimana Claudine. The couple were legally married.

The tragic incident outspread in Gisa village, Gisa sector in Rubavu district. The couple had been married for two years before relocating to Rutsiro district.

According to details gathered from the crime scene, Niyomukesha Evariste, who had a previous involvement in criminal activities, admitted to premeditating his wife’s murder, feeling unstoppable in his actions.

“They had been having severe conflicts for a long time, to the point where this man, who had spent almost a year in Nyakiriba Prison, planned to kill his wife and even threatened her with a gun.” He says.

Ntaganda Hicham Jean Marie Vianney, a local official from Gisa village, provided this information, stating that several days had passed since the incident, and communication between them was strained.

“It happened late at night when the man woke up, took their 6-year-old child, left their home, and informed them that he had killed his wife, revealing where he had hidden the murder weapon and that he would surrender to RIB.” He adds.

He further mentioned that RIB apprehended him for the crime, and a murder weapon was recovered from the bushes near Gisenyi markets. He also noted that 14 days had passed since the incident, and despite their apparent good relationship, the man had been arrested due to his violent behavior towards his wife.
