FPR-Inkotanyi youth urged to counter misinformation, uphold Rwanda’s image

The Secretary General of the FPR-Inkotanyi, Christophe Bazivamo, has called on young members of the party to take a frontline role in protecting Rwanda’s image by actively promoting truth and countering misinformation, particularly on social media.

Speaking to more than 2,000 delegates at the sixth National Congress of the party’s youth league held on March 22, 2026, Bazivamo stressed that digital platforms have become powerful tools that must be used responsibly to strengthen national unity and support development.

He warned against the spread of false information and divisive narratives online, urging the youth to instead use these platforms to project a positive and accurate image of the country.

According to him, young people have both the responsibility and the capacity to influence public discourse in ways that contribute to nation-building.

Bazivamo also emphasized the importance of values and personal conduct, reminding the youth that wherever they are—within Rwanda or abroad—they represent the country.

He urged them to demonstrate integrity, discipline, hard work, and patriotism in their daily lives, noting that these principles are essential in sustaining Rwanda’s progress.

He further reassured participants of the party’s continued support, highlighting the expectation that young people will play a central role in driving sustainable development and advancing the country’s long-term ambitions.

The congress also marked the election of a new national executive committee for the youth league. Mugisha Ernest was elected president, with Rwagitare Nelly as vice president, while Kwizera Urindwa Esther was elected secretary.

Additional leaders were elected to head key commissions, including governance, justice, social affairs, and economic development, in a move expected to strengthen youth engagement and leadership within the party’s structures.
