Equatorial Guinea Official Arrested After Over 400 Sex Tapes with Prominent Figures Discovered

Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the head of Equatorial Guinea’s Financial Intelligence Agency (ANIF), has been arrested after authorities found over 400 videos of him engaging in sexual acts with women, some of whom are prominent figures. These videos were uncovered during an investigation into alleged embezzlement, during which authorities seized CDs and other media containing the footage from his home and office.

The videos reportedly feature high-ranking officials, including the National Police Chief, relatives of top government figures, such as the sister of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, and spouses of various ministers. The Attorney General, Nzang Nguema, clarified that consensual relationships are not considered criminal, but expressed public health concerns over potential sexually transmitted infections (STIs) that could have been spread through Engonga’s actions, indicating the state should respond.

In response, the Equatorial Guinea government introduced regulations stipulating that any official found engaging in sexual acts at their workplace will face immediate suspension to maintain public trust. Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, through a post on X (formerly Twitter), condemned these actions, emphasizing that “professionalism and integrity are fundamental to our governance.”

According to Africa News, government authorities in Equatorial Guinea are intensifying efforts to restore public confidence in leadership and prevent future occurrences of such misconduct.
