117 engineers, architects certified at Nziza Training Academy commit to stop employee importation

At least 117 up-skilled engineers including those who finished University schools and others who are still sitting for varsity courses received certificates in Architectural design, structural engineering and earthquakes, bridge design, quantity surveying and construction project management.

It is the third certification ceremony of Nziza Training Academy since 2018. The academy provides three to six months training and the cost of courses varies from Rwf150,000 to Rwf600,000.

Emmanuella Nuwayo, one of the certified graduates who was provided with an Architectural design said that the school helped them to boost technology and to be friendly with software design, which she believes will help her to tap into the labour market.

“At school we learn lessons but we also need to explore the job system, we have managed to acquire important hands-on skills to help us on the labour market and I hope that our country will never need to import professional engineers and architects while we have gained such skills that are on the highest level.” Nuwayo said.

Charles, another civil engineer certified graduate in construction project management who currently works as construction coordinator at RICA University in Bugesera district also proves how the acquired skills were helpful. 

“I am proud to be certified in construction project management at Nziza Training Academy, I am honoured to speak on behalf of all graduates today in construction project management, Architectural design, structural engineering and earthquakes, bridge design and quantity surveying. We are happy to witness this day as it marks the end of very challenging but worth journey of transformation of all of us. Nziza Training Academy made our expectations, we have gained what needed from engineering to technology that we have been lacking in our practices.” He said.

Alexandre Nzirorera, CEO of Nziza Training Academy explained that the academy offers classroom knowledge plus technical skills that enable graduates to perform and handle projects by using the latest technologies.

“There is still a gap between University package and what the labour market needs, we want to bridge this gap by continuously equipping students and graduates with practical skills that match with latest technologies.” Nzirorera said, urging young people to never stop thinking on how they can upgrade their skills following global technology trends.

Pascal Gatabazi, Chief Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) appreciated the teaching model of Nziza Training Academy as a major milestone in producing up-skilled engineers and architects.

“Such critical skills are required on the labour market in order to help the country to fast track social-economic transformation. This is a good journey to build the career and it requires hard working.” Gatabazi said.

Since its inception in 2018, Nziza Training Academy has given certificates to 200 engineers and architects.
