Tajyire strengthens innovation pipeline, expands practical tech training, and unveils locally built robotics kit for learners

By Elias HAKIZIMANA.

Tajyire Electronics, under Tajyire Group Ltd, is strengthening its position as a practical skills development and innovation hub, with its training centre now fully operational, hosting interns from different technical disciplines, and its Research and Development (R&D) department advancing locally designed learning technologies for young innovators.

Over the past three months, the training centre has been receiving interns from various institutions, offering hands-on industrial exposure across key technical fields including Software Development, Computer Systems and Architecture (CSA), Networking and Information Technology (NIT), Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (ETE), and Electricity Technology for Level 4 and Level 5 students.

Ishimwe Madina, Director of TAJYIRE Training Center and R&D said the programme is designed to bridge classroom learning with real-world industrial practice, while also opening pathways for employability and entrepreneurship.

Learners during a hands-on training session at Tajyire Electronics Training Centre in Matheus House, Nyarugenge, gaining practical skills in electronics and device repair.

“We are delighted to announce that our training center is fully operational and these three months we’ve been accepting interns from different schools, in different majors. The aim is to give them practical exposure so that what they learn in school is directly connected to what happens in the industry,” Ishimwe Madina, Director of TAJYIRE Training Center and R&D said.

The initiative reflects Tajyire’s broader ecosystem approach, which integrates training, research, and market-driven innovation under one roof at Matheus House in Nyarugenge.

Beyond internships, Tajyire Group also emphasized that its training programme is open to individuals with no prior technical background, especially in mobile phone and laptop repair, as part of its practical skills empowerment model.

“We train people even if they don’t have a background in electronics. After training, they can repair phones and laptops and start earning income. Many of our trainees have changed their lives and now have something practical they can do to generate income,” the company noted.

Youth engage in hands-on training at Tajyire Electronics, practicing phone and laptop repair skills that prepare them for immediate income-generating opportunities.

Strengthening hands-on learning through R&D innovation

  • Tajyire Robotic Kit

Alongside the training programme, Tajyire’s Research and Development department has introduced a new educational innovation known as the Tajyire Robotic Kit, a modular robotics learning platform designed to simplify and strengthen STEM education for young learners.

The Tajyire Robotic Kit introduces students to programming and robotics through interactive, hands-on learning experiences. Built with a plug-and-fit system, it eliminates complex wiring challenges, making it accessible for beginners while remaining scalable for advanced learners.

Developed locally by Tajyire Electronics, the kit is positioned as an affordable alternative to imported robotics learning tools, aiming to increase accessibility for schools and training centres across Rwanda.

The Tajyire Robotics Kit provides essential hands-on learning, helping students build practical skills in programming, robotics, and problem-solving through interactive projects at Tajyire Electronics.

Locally designed solution for robotics education

According to the development team, the Tajyire Robotic Kit was created to respond to both affordability and usability challenges in STEM education tools.

Why the kit was developed:

  • Locally made to ensure affordability and accessibility
  • Cost-effective compared to international robotics kits
  • Easy-to-use plug-and-fit system that removes wiring complexity
  • Scalable from beginner level to advanced learning
  • Supports multiple project configurations within a single kit

Building future-ready skills

The kit is designed to introduce learners to core competencies in modern technology fields, including programming fundamentals using block-based coding and Arduino systems, robotics concepts, and system thinking.

Beyond technical knowledge, the learning platform also emphasizes transferable skills that are increasingly important in the digital economy.

Students using the kit are expected to develop:

  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Creativity and innovation capacity
  • Logical reasoning and structured thinking
  • Collaboration and teamwork abilities
  • Hand-eye coordination through practical building exercises

Aligning with education and curriculum needs

Tajyire says the kit is also aligned with national education objectives in technology-related subjects, offering structured content that can be integrated into classroom teaching.

The platform is designed to support teachers by providing practical materials that complement theoretical instruction, enabling students to better understand complex concepts through experimentation and application.

By combining classroom learning with hands-on robotics development, the initiative aims to strengthen STEM education delivery and inspire early interest in engineering and innovation careers.

The Tajyire Robotics Kit, a locally designed modular learning platform, simplifies programming and robotics through its plug-and-fit system, making STEM education accessible and practical for learners.

Linking training, innovation, and livelihood creation

The integration of internships, training, and R&D development reflects Tajyire’s broader model of connecting skills development with real market needs. Interns in the programme are exposed not only to technical learning but also to industry practices within an operational innovation environment.

The approach is intended to ensure that young people do not only graduate with theoretical knowledge, but also with practical skills that can immediately translate into employment or entrepreneurship opportunities.

As the training centre continues to operate at full capacity, Tajyire Group Ltd positions its model as a growing ecosystem where education, innovation, and industry intersect—while also directly supporting income generation through practical technical skills such as phone and laptop repair services.
