PSF elects new committee

The private sector federation (PSF) has elected a new committee headed by a local businessman, Robert Bapfakurera as the new chairperson.

With 137 votes against his contestant Françoise Mubirigi who got 18 votes, Bapfakurera has replaced Benjamin Gasamagera who has been holding the position for three years.

Bapfakurera has pledged to support business development in the Rwanda with the emphasis to advocacy for local business people.

“As a business man, I will do all my best to develop business sector in Rwanda and I know everything needed for local business development,” Bapfakurera said.Robert Bapfakurera.

Eric Gishoma was elected first vice-president, beating Isabelle Uzamukunda while the second Vice-chairperson is Eugenie Mushimiyimana.

Gasamagera who is the outgoing chairman applauded his team for the commitment which enabled them to successfully perform their responsibilities including advice given for the business decision.

Among the solved problems through advocacy that local business people has been facing includes waive of taxes on public buses carrying over 30 people and the  waive of Value Added Tax (VAT)on exported commodities and services.

Gasamagera said that PSF encouraged investors to invest in big projects and led to the construction of different big structures in the country. He urged the new committee to concentrate on new Expo ground, promoting Made in Rwanda and the Federation’s capacity building.
