Meet Angelique Muregwa whose painful past turned her into a charitable woman

Rwandan American-based woman Angelique Muregwa is in the way to transform lives of many children across Rwanda and Burundi driven with her bitter past of orphanage, poverty and refugee status through her Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dubbed ‘Muregwa Foundation Angel’.

Muregwa Foundation Angel helps vulnerable children in talent detection and promotion like in Music, film and poetry where the best are awarded and linked to prospect sponsors to improve on their lives, thanks to their detected talents.

Angelique Muregwa who is currently living in the United States of America (USA) in Colorado State since 2017 is passionate to help her fellow Africans mainly in Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda who are enduring the same life she has undergone during her childhood.

There is a say in Kinyarwanda saying: ‘Gutanga bitanga umugisha kurusha guhabwa’ loosely translated: “Giving brings more blessing than receiving”. Angelique’s past was not taken for granted by herself when she started enjoying life, rather, she decided to start a charity organization: “Muregwa Foundation Angel” in 2019 to realize her passion.

Angelique’s bitter life

In 1994 during Rwandan tragic history of the genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi, Muregwa lost her mother and was taken to Tanzania by her relatives where she has grown and anyone can imagine the life of a 5 year old girl-child struggling with life at such an early age, to her, it is also a huge motivation and she doesn’t wish to see a child at such age suffering the similar manner.

In East African countries, so many children are found on the street some abandoned by their teen mothers, others left by their families due to domestic conflicts, extreme poverty and experience hard street lives by feeding and educating themselves. This foundation “Muregwa Foundation Angel” once is joined by other charity organizations might reduce this burden of Africans to save future generation.

The idea

“When I established Muregwa Foundation Angel, I was motivated by the life I had experienced during my orphanage and childhood poverty. After arriving in USA, I have seen so many children suffering the same life I suffered then I felt emotional and pitiful to give and forgive rather than getting and forget.”Muregwa said during an exclusive interview with Rwandainspirer.com.

Muregwa’s ambitions are oriented in helping poor and vulnerable people especially those who have experienced refugee and exile life and others in dilemma.

She said that what hurts her is to see her fellow Africans who have attained their dreams, get and forget the life of fellow Africans especially children who are suffering from the streets without anyone who can lend them a hand.

Vision

“I call up on my fellow friends living in developed countries even those who touched wealth in Africa to remember giving back to vulnerable communities, especially children.” Muregwa added.

Challenges

Despite the passion of Mss. Angelique Muregwa to help vulnerable children to realize their potential dreams, there are some challenging factors that hinder her to quench her objectives such as negligence of elite people in Africa, USA, Asia and Europe who are capable to give back to their native communities.

In nutshell, Muregwa urges everyone with a charitable heart to give regardless of their financial status but at least having that charity mindset will have a significant impact and can save so many lives of vulnerable, poor and children in struggling life.
