Pink Heart Team members support education of needy children at native places

Pink Heart is a group of good Samaritans based on friendship that was established in 2018 with the aim to support and develop education of a girl and a boy at their native places in order to give back to the community.

In many communities both rural and urban areas, many children fail to continue their education at school due to poverty that sometimes deprives them from accessing the meals at school or school materials.

The Pink Heart Team always think about such a biter situation and organize funding supports of which some is given to schools that host needy children in amount of money to cover their meals, and; another part is used to buy hygiene and sanitary materials for them.

Speaking during a recent visit of children at G.S.Muyunzwe located in Ruhango District, Southern Province, Claudine Uwizera, the president of Pink Heart group said that  they will continue helping children to get involved in school feeding programme, to get school materials and to access hygiene and sanitary equipment.

“This organization’s activities look at the bigger picture of how to help children to get access to school feeding programme, access basic equipment such as notebooks, soaps, skin butter and pads for girls so that they study comfortably without any challenge.” She said.

He/she recommended parents and authorities to approach children and know their status and challenges that can hinder their education and plan ahead for solutions.

Beneficiaries speak out

Petronille Musabyimana, the mother of four children from Kabacuzi village, Rukina cell, Kinihira Sector in Ruhango district said that Pink Heart has supported her daughter with school materials including notebooks and meals at school.

“My daughter could not have the meals at school because I am poor and I could not afford the money for school feeding. I am happy that Pink Heart has paid for her meals and they gave her some school materials including uniforms, notebooks and pens.” Musabyimana says, adding that sometimes she could tell the child to not go to school after sleeping hungry tonight.

Mutuyeyezu Uwineza Gloriose,13, is a student at G.S.Muyunzwe in Primary six (p6). She thanks Pink Heart Group that is supporting her education.

“Today, they have brought us with different donations. They gave me uniform, notebooks and paid my meals at school. The soaps, skin butter and sanitary pads also provided will help me to cater for hygiene and sanitation in my daily life.” She noted.

Besides school materials and paying the meals of children, Pink Heart Team also conducts discussions with children on positive behaviours and how they can build trust and self-confidence in order to strive for a brighter future.

This contribution has eradicated school drop outs of many children who come from vulnerable families in different corners of the country from where members of Pink Heart were born and raised.
