Liberal Party to advocate for quality education, teachers’ welfare

Liberal party (PL) promises Rwandans to raise a voice for quality education development by establishing laws that advocate for the budget allocation for more classrooms and teachers’ well-being.

The party’s members headed by Donatille Mukabalisa, President of PL, were speaking on Tuesday August 28, 2018 at Huye and Gisagara District in Southern Province where they were campaigning for parliamentary polls scheduled from September 3 in Rwanda.

Speaking amid the campaign, Mukabalisa said that sustainable wealth should start from quality education from nursery schools to secondary and University schools to respond to the problems facing the country.

“We want that Rwandan children have a role in development of the country, we need that they acquire knowledge driven by Information Communication Technology (ICT) and we will do our best to advocate for the increase of national budget that will see the availability of new research procedures in school’s institutions,” Mukabalisa told The Inspirer.

She said that the country has current initiatives that target to improve citizens’ welfare such as the saving and credit cooperatives (SACCOs). She pledged to advocate for the national budget improvement and to develop the private sector and promote tax payment so that this goal can be attained.

“When the national budget is well managed, every citizen’s welfare will also be improved, not only teachers’, but also the majority of Rwandans,” Mukabalisa noted.

The government of Rwanda through the ministry of education and ministry of local government have achieved a lot in education sector such as creation of savings and credit cooperatives that include Umwalimu Savings and Credit Cooperatives(SACCOs)for primary and secondary schools but some challenges like short-term contracts for private schools’ teachers and salary delay still remain unaddressed, and are impeding the quality of education.
