KETHA Commends Efforts of RwandAir in Supporting Students Education

Kigali Excellent Tourism and Hospitality Academy (KETHA) has appreciated the contribution of RwandAir and Rwanda Airports Company (RAC) in the promotion of their students in Tourism studies.

The appreciation message was delivered by the school’s officials on October 12, 2023 at Kigali International Airport during the closing of an organized two-day field trip that brought together 140 students accompanied by their trainers.

The field trip was organized by KETHA school that operates from Gasabo district, Kimironko sector, and it was in line with linking Airline programmes and Air transport as well as the activities at the Airport with the aim to strengthen their acquired skills.

The field trip is also encouraged by the Government of Rwanda’s competence-based curriculum that promotes industrial attachment beyond classroom knowledge, making them more competitive at the labour market.

The encourages youth to embrace Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) subjects.

“This is a significant opportunity to have the support of the government to the students in TVET practicing. The teaching and learning processes get strength due to the availability of proper infrastructures,” says Alphonse Habimana, Director of KETHA School.

The students and their teachers were explained the different services at different departments of the Airport, including Airline services when they were inside the plane.

At the end of the field trip, RAC and RwandAir officials thanked KETHA for significant strides in cultivating the students with competence-based skills that are useful for the labour market.

KETHA enroll students in three-year different courses ranging from Tourism, Food and Beverage Operations and Culinary Arts. They also have another part of TVET courses that last from three to six months.

Last year, when KETHA was delivering certificates to 241 graduates who concluded 2021-2022 academic year, they presented some graduates from from J-Hospitality and Tourism Management from Mauritius who are now allowed to study in 52 foreign Universities due to high level degrees they were awarded.

KETHA school is helping the Government of Rwanda to attain it’s objectives. It supplements the 7-year government program to attain the vision of 60 percent of the youth who will have graduated from TVET subjects by 2024.
