Kamonyi: Resident Suspected of Grenade Attack on Neighbor

By The Inspirer.

Authorities in Kamonyi District have reported that a resident suspected of throwing a grenade at his neighbor’s house, accusing him of having an inappropriate relationship with his wife, is on the run and being sought to face justice.

The suspect allegedly threw the grenade at his neighbor’s home on the night of January 13, 2025, in Mugina Sector.

Reports indicate that the suspect, a former soldier, had longstanding conflicts with his neighbor, suspecting him of having a special relationship with his wife.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the grenade attack as all occupants were inside the house, but the explosion damaged the house’s door.

The Mayor of Kamonyi District, Dr. Nahayo Sylvere, confirmed to IGIHE that as of January 15, the suspect, identified as Nkurikiyingoma, had not yet been apprehended and remains at large.

At this time, it is unclear where the suspect obtained the grenade used in the attack on his neighbor’s house.

The Ministry of Internal Security recently stated that the illegal possession of small arms, including guns and grenades, in Rwanda is extremely rare. Such weapons are almost never used in criminal activities or theft.
