Ineza Foundation showcases community services at Rulindo youth exhibition

Rulindo District, June 13, 2025, The Ineza Foundation reaffirmed its dedication to grassroots development and youth empowerment at the Rulindo District Youth Exhibition, a three-day event organized by the District Joint Action Forum (DJAF).

The exhibition, part of the broader Rulindo JADF Open Day, brought together government institutions, civil society organizations, and private sector players to showcase services aimed at transforming local communities.

This year marked Ineza Foundation’s third consecutive participation in the annual exhibition. The organization operates a community library in Base Sector and uses platforms like the JADF Open Day to reach more citizens with their literacy and social empowerment programs.

“We are excited to be part of this initiative once again,” said Janvier Niyonsaba, Program Manager at Ineza Foundation.

“We came with services from our community library, which serves both children and adults, including a section on Early Childhood Development (ECD). These resources are accessible and useful to communities across the country.”

At its vibrant exhibition stand, Ineza Foundation presented more than just books. The team showcased locally made educational play materials, handmade dolls, school bags, jewelry, and woven baskets all crafted by parents engaged in income generating initiatives supported by the organization. These items not only reflect creativity and cultural heritage but also represent a pathway to economic resilience for vulnerable families.

“We are thrilled that the community has responded positively to our stand. At least 80% of our visitors are children and youth,” Niyonsaba added.

“We encourage students to visit libraries wherever they are, to gain both academic knowledge and practical skills. We also urge parents to nurture a reading culture at home and support the learning journeys of their children.”

Niyonsaba emphasized the need for sustained collaboration between civil society and local government to empower youth and reduce vulnerability.

“We commend Rulindo District for creating this space and urge continued support for grassroots organizations. The youth need more opportunities, and we hope initiatives like this will remain a priority both at district and national levels,” he said.

The exhibition drew participation from several notable stakeholders, including private companies like Sina Gérard’s Urwibutso Enterprises’ technical schools, youth cooperatives, and district-based NGOs. Each exhibitor contributed to the event’s mission of promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, education, and community development.

Maurice Mugabowagahunde, Governor of the Northern Province, applauded the organizers and called for enhanced district-level coordination to ensure long-term impact.

“It is encouraging to see youth involvement continue to grow. We are also grateful to our partners. The next step is for the district to strengthen coordination. I look forward to seeing improved metrics such as increased innovation, job creation, and reduced malnutrition. Together, we can build a stronger Rulindo,” the Governor said.

 

Aimable Dusabirane, President of the Rulindo District Council, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the value of public engagement and visibility into local development efforts.

“This exhibition is a great opportunity for citizens to learn about the services provided by partners and government programs. It brings people closer to the development efforts happening around them,” Dusabirane noted.

Held annually, the Rulindo JADF Open Day serves as an important knowledge-sharing platform and a space for fostering collaboration among stakeholders. This year’s event spotlighted the critical role of youth, women, and grassroots organizations in accelerating inclusive and sustainable development.
