Imanzi Spectrum Center teaches Rwandans to grow mushrooms and improve nutrition

The center is a mushroom growing and processing firm located in Musambira Sector in Kamonyi District, Southern Province of Rwanda. They grow Mushrooms on small scale space and get the yield only in few days.

Imanzi spectrum center is currently participating to the 14^th Agrishow at Mulindi-Gasabo and calls people to come and get skills on mushroom farming. They are working in the 57^th stand in this agri show that kicked off on June 19^th 2019 to end on June 26^th 2019.

Emmanuel Musangamfura, operation manager at Imanzi Spectrum Centre says more about the centre and what products they have from mushrooms.

“We are specialized in mushroom value chain development. We produce mushroom tubes, fresh mushrooms, dried mushrooms and mushroom flour. We are located in Southern Province, Kamonyi district, Musambira sector, Kivumu cell, Nyagisozi village at 37 Km from Kigali City on main road Kigali-Muhanga,” Musangamfura said.

He said that with mushrooms consumption one can beat malnutrition in the family as the plant is special food rich in nutrients.

“we have seen huge improvement in nutrition especially for families whose children are stunted. We help you feed your child very well and give you mushroom seeds to grow in your farms, it does not necessarily require a wide space because these mushrooms are easy to grow even in your house on small scale soil, like in green house, so, you can improve nutrition and get money,”

Many Rwandans still fear to adopt this new variety of mushrooms as they are used to consuming the traditional ones of black colour rarely found at the boundaries of the farms. Imanzi calls them to plant these ones of a white colour as they are easy to grow and harvest in one week.

These mushrooms are sold in local hotels and supermarkets and are believed to be very important for health than meats served in hotels. The mushrooms are easy to grow and give produce in only one week They are grow on the small scale land
