God’s Gift (Mpano y’Imana) YouTuber Arrested for Sexual Assault and Fraud

Ngirinshuti Ezechiel, known for his YouTube channel titled ‘Impano y’Imana’ (God’s Gift), has been arrested on charges of coercing another person into sexual intercourse and obtaining property through deceit.

The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) announced that he was apprehended on October 27, 2024.

RIB spokesperson Dr. Murangira B. Thierry confirmed the arrest. He stated, “Indeed, he has been arrested and is currently detained at the RIB station in Kacyiru while his case is being prepared for prosecution.”

The spokesperson for the Rwandan Investigation Bureau indicated that this individual had also been under investigation for misusing social media platforms.

He added, “The campaign against the misuse of social media is ongoing; they will not deter us. This campaign will continue until those who misuse these platforms understand that they are not meant for committing crimes.”

Dr. Murangira noted that Mpanoyimana was posting videos on social media claiming to make money, providing a phone number for those needing funds to contact him multiple times.

He mentioned that many women who approached him were allegedly coerced into sexual acts. After robbing individuals who tried to confront him about money, he would tell them that he had powers from the underworld that would silence them.

He stated, “The investigation is still ongoing as it appears he has defrauded many people. Those he may have deceived should report to the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) to file a complaint.”

The RIB spokesperson also urged social media users to refrain from engaging in criminal activities, as they will be pursued under the law.
