Rusizi: Man Suspected of Luring and Assaulting a Child with a Coin

Hagenimana Silas, a 28-year-old man from Rusizi District, is under investigation for allegedly luring a three-year-old child with 100 Rwandan francs and subsequently assaulting her.

This incident reportedly took place in Bisenyi Village, Kabuye Cell, Nyakarenzo Sector, Rusizi District, on October 27, 2024, around 10:00 a.m.

The Executive Secretary of Nyakarenzo Sector, Ntawizera Jean Pierre, told UMUSEKE that the suspect was previously on a list of individuals considered problematic.

He said, “We already had him listed among problematic young men, including delinquents and petty criminals. We once sent him to a rehabilitation center. When we received information that he assaulted the child on the morning of Sunday, October 27, 2024, we apprehended him and handed him over to the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB).”

UMUSEKE has learned that the suspect lured the child with a 100 Rwandan franc coin. After the incident, the child’s parents took her to Mibirizi Hospital, where a medical examination confirmed the assault.

The suspect is currently held at the RIB station in Nyakarenzo, located in Gashonga Sector, as investigations continue.
