APR FC defeats Mukura VS, climbs up the Rwanda premier league table

APR FC edged Mukura Victory Sports 1–0 to climb up the Rwanda Premier League standings, in a Matchday 4 encounter played on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Kigali Pelé Stadium.

Both teams started the game energetically, with APR FC dominating possession in midfield, while Mukura focused on wing play to create chances.

The decisive moment came in the 19th minute when Ugandan midfielder Ronald Ssekiganda opened the scoring for APR FC after receiving a clever pass from Denis Omedi. The goal came following a costly error from Mukura goalkeeper Nicholas Sebwato, who mishandled the ball, allowing Ssekiganda to capitalize from close range.

Sensing the goalkeeper’s inconsistency, APR players began attempting long-range shots, as Mukura’s defense — led by Trésor Kwizera, Abdul Jalilu, and Abdoul Ishimwe — proved difficult to penetrate.

Mukura later changed tactics, relying more on midfielder Joseph Sackey to link play with Patrick Mutsinzi, who was leading the attack. This adjustment helped Mukura threaten the APR defense a few times but without finding the back of the net.

APR FC maintained control for most of the first half and carried their dominance into the second. Mukura coach Pierre Canisius Nshimiyimana made the first change, replacing Patrick Mutsinzi with Exauce Malanda Destin, while APR coach Abderrahim Talib brought on Pacifique Ngabonziza for Raouf Memel Dao.

In the 85th minute, Hakim Kiwanuka made a fine run before setting up Denis Omedi, who’s shot was saved by Sebwato. Moments later, Mukura thought they had equalized through Mensah Boateng, but the assistant referee ruled it offside.

The match ended 1–0 in favor of the army side, earning APR FC their second win of the season and moving them to fourth place with six points from two matches.

APR FC will next face Kiyovu Sports on Saturday, October 25, while Mukura VS will host AS Kigali on the same day.
