Rwanda’s under-20 men’s volleyball team started their Africa Cup campaign with a 3-2 loss to Morocco in the opening match.

The game was played on Saturday evening in Egypt’s 6th October City, where the continental tournament kicked off.

Rwanda took the first set, but Morocco bounced back to claim the next two. Rwanda forced the game into a deciding fifth set by winning the fourth, only for Morocco to seal victory 15-11 in the tiebreak.

Following the defeat, Rwanda sits third in the group standings behind Cameroon and Morocco, while Kenya remains bottom without a point.

Rwanda returns to action on Monday against Cameroon before wrapping up the group stage with a clash against Kenya on Wednesday, September 17.

In this group, Cameroon is the only team to secure a maximum three points so far.

The Africa U20 Volleyball Championship runs until September 21, when all participating nations will head home.
