Ramadan: Islamic Actions for Development to give ‘Iftar’ to 600 families

Islamic Actions for Development (I.A.D)/Al-Amal is set to provide over 600 families with Iftar.
Iftar is the meal eaten by Muslims to break their fast after sunset every day during Ramadan.
It is in this context that Islamic Actions for Development is giving Iftar to those in need during this blessed month since Muslims are encouraged to immerse themselves in worship activities such as prayer, reading the Quran and to continue helping the less privileged.
Muslims in Rwanda and the rest of the world began the holy fasting month of Ramadan on Tuesday, April 13, the Mufti of Rwanda,
Depending on when the new moon is sighted, Lunar months last between 29 to 30 days.
If the moon is not seen on the night of the 29th day, then Ramadan lasts for the full 30 days.
This year, the Eid al-Fitr celebration, which marks the end of a successful Ramadan is expected to fall between May 12 and May 14.
Islamic Actions for Development/AL AMAL in collaboration with Rwanda Muslims Community (RMC) in Rwamagana provided Iftar to some families last week.
The package is composed of 25 Kg of rice, 10 Kg of maize flour, 10 Kg of beans, 5 Kg of sugar and one litre of cooking oil.
So far 150 families have got Iftar and over 600 families are targeted during Ramadan.
Sheikh Sadiki Inshuti, the leader of Muslim community in Rwamagana district lauded the Iftar support saying it was timely in the sectors of Rubona and Munyaga.
Zainabu Mukamutara, one of the beneficiaries who got the support said: “I am so happy to receive Iftar. We got beans, rice, cooking oil, maize flour and sugar. This food is enough compared to previous times.”
Islamic Actions for Development (I.A.D)/Al-Amal was established in 2012 as a response to the observed challenges in delivering quality medical assistance through programs which demonstrated community participation and collaborative partnerships, and a sensitivity of local culture intends to be one of the biggest players to solve some of the above mentioned problems within Islamic community in particular and Rwandan society in general with an emphasis on voluntarism, transparency, efficient work, integrity, team spirit and discipline.
The organization strives to improve the health of communities by working in partnership with various Muslims and Non-Muslims organizations, associations and agencies operating in Rwanda and abroad just to meet its objectives.
The objectives include promoting Social welfare for Rwandans, fostering sustainable development for Rwandans, encouraging and strengthen all existing efforts towards quality education, working for a more enlightened appreciation of Islam as well as Islamic Culture, promoting cooperation, consensus, unity and reconciliation in Rwandan society
