Istiqamat gives Mutuelle De Santé to 1,000 individuals and a model Mosque to Muslims

Istiqamat International, the charity organization closely working with Rwanda Muslims Community has donated community-based health insurance – Mutuelle de Santé –cards to 1,000 poor people in Kicukiro District of Kigali city.
The support was unveiled during the inauguration of $400,000 mosque that was constructed under the auspices of Istiqamat.
The charity has also pledged to build another mosque with two floors in Western Procince’s Karongi District.
Zahir Bin Khalifa Alalawi, the Secretary General of Istiqamat International said they have been providing support for boosting development in Africa especially in East Africa.
“We, for instance, built 3,000 wells in Tanzania to boost people access to water. We also wish to strengthen education starting by nursery to high level schools,” he said.

“It is the second time we come back in Rwanda. Besides access to water and education support, we also look at supporting young and women’s cooperatives,” he added.
Mufti Sheikh Salim Hitimana said that besides the Mosque that was launched in Kigarama Sector with capacity to host 1,500 people, they will also build schools, health facilities as well as entertainment place facilities.

“We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to improve social welfare, education and others in our community and building new mosques across the country,” he said.
The Executive Secretary of Kicukiro District, Adalbert Rukebanuka thanked the charity for having also provided health insurance to 750 vulnerable people last year in the district.
Justus Kangwage, the Head of Political Parties and Civil Society Organizations at Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) lauded the Islam support and urged to comply with rules that govern faith based organizations in Rwanda.
“We are happy that some of the projects are focusing on education. We do not wish school drop outs in Mosques,” he said.
