Those sponsored by CHF / International found ‘Peace Founder Group’

Vulnerable children who were sponsored by the CHF / International project to pursue their education have founded an organization dubbed “Peace Founder Group’ that will support other vulnerable people.

The foundation was initiated by 15 graduates after being supported to study by CHF’s programmes in Rwanda.

CHF International is a US-based international development and humanitarian aid organization.

They got support in partnership with USAID/HIGA UBEHO, AEE-Rwanda, DUHAMIC ADRI, CARTAS, RPP+.

Thadée Nzadisenga, who was born into a poor family in Nyamagabe District in the Southern Province said that   they were able to continue their studies and graduated thanks to the CHF / International project.

After being sponsored to complete their studies, they have now decided to launch an organization that will support other vulnerable people.

In his testimony, he points out that he lived a life of poverty when he was in senior two of high school.

“I dropped out of school due to poverty and when CHF / International  came,  I returned to school,” he said, adding that CHF / International has  returned thousands of  children to school especially those who had dropped out of school.

“I was supported among many vulnerable children. The project paid school fees for us, paid school uniforms and learning materials for us. When we graduated from high school in different times, we had training and sponsors told us to start a platform with specific activities that they can support so that we continue to survive while supporting others, “he said.

The recommended activities, he said, should also lift vulnerable people out of poverty.

“They pledged to sponsor us through the organization we have founded,” he said.

The organization, he said, will support needy families and disabled children.

“The people we target to support must be from the first category of Ubudehe classification who find it difficult to even afford food. We want to also support street children,” he said.

The Peace Founder Group aims to help the needy, promote youth volunteering, fight child sexual abuse, build a community free of conflict and help children living with HIV / AIDS.

Among the projects that will support needy people include “Have Store Home” that will set up three subsidized shops in Kigali city.

The shops will be set up in Gahanga sector, Kimisagara sector and Kimironko sector.

“The needy people will pay 60 percent of the food price in these shops while the remaining 40 percent will be paid by Peace Founder Group,” he explained.

He said that they are targeting 1,080 needy people to access the shops.

 

“We will teach them how to make food stores in their homes. They must buy in bulk in a month and then make stores of food,” he said.

“We will work with local leaders to select the needy people,” he said.
