StarTimes Launches ‘Ganza’ New Television Channel for Kinyarwanda Movies

On November 8, 2023, StarTimes inaugurated a new television channel called “GanzaTV” which is dedicated to showcasing films in the local language, Kinyarwanda.

GanzaTV is positioned as an educational tool for the Rwandan population. It aims to provide entertainment and educational content in Kinyarwanda.

The channel will broadcast international movies in Kinyarwanda, as well as films produced by Rwandans. This initiative is intended to make content more accessible to those who may not understand foreign languages well.

GanzaTV will run 24 hours a day, ensuring continuous access to Kinyarwanda-language content.

Overcoming Language Barriers

According to Modeste NKURIKIYIMANA, Director of Startimes Publicity Department, the channel addresses the issue of language barriers, allowing viewers to fully understand the content and messages conveyed in movies. This is particularly important for those who may not be fluent in English or other foreign languages.

GanzaTV is available on the 103rd channel for branch antenna users and the 460th channel for dish antenna users.

The channel plans to screen movies featuring Rwandan actors to connect with local audiences.

StarTimes’ Commitment

Frankly Wang, CEO of StarTimes in Rwanda, expresses the company’s commitment to providing quality services to the Rwandan audience and emphasizes the importance of customer feedback.

From November 1, 2023, viewers can watch GanzaTV for free for three weeks. After this initial period, a small and affordable subscription fee will be required.
