See the Benefits of Cameroonian Greenhouse Ventures for Rwanda’s Sustainable Agriculture

Greenhouse Ventures (GHV) Cameroon is considering expanding its presence into Rwanda, with a focus on sustainable agriculture and innovative farming techniques.

GHV is known for its commitment to environmentally conscious agriculture and expertise in sustainable practices, including greenhouse farming, organic crop cultivation, and efficient water management. These practices have been successful in Cameroon since 2013.

GHV aims to bring about a transformative impact on Rwanda’s agricultural landscape through its sustainable farming techniques. The goal is to foster a greener approach to agriculture and create positive social and economic impacts in Rwanda’s farming communities.

Addressing Food Insecurity and Youth Unemployment

Roland Fomundam, CEO & Founder of GHV, sees the introduction of their greenhouses as a gamechanger in Rwanda’s agriculture sector. They aim to promote climate-smart agriculture and increase food production on a small scale of land, with the intention of tackling food insecurity.

Rwanda currently imports a significant amount of food, and GHV envisions that by introducing their greenhouses and engaging the population in food crop production, Rwanda can transition from being a net food importer to becoming a net food exporter.

GHV plans to establish a Greenhouse academy in Rwanda with the goal of training many youths to become experts in greenhouse management. In Cameroon, GHV has successfully trained over 500 youths who are now involved in building and managing greenhouses.

Knowledge Transfer

GHV intends to transfer knowledge to the Rwandan youth to promote eco-friendly farming practices and sustainable agriculture. They aim to make greenhouses an essential part of Rwandan agriculture.

While greenhouse technology is not new in Rwanda, GHV intends to introduce a new innovation. They plan to create greenhouses adapted to various ecological zones in the country, as the climates differ across different regions.

GHV plans to create a market for greenhouse-grown produce, similar to what they’ve done in Cameroon. This initiative aims to support farmers in the post-harvest journey.

Expansion Plans

After Rwanda, GHV has ambitious plans to expand to three more African countries, including Ghana, Congo, and Guinea, before the end of 2023.

The expansion of Greenhouse Ventures into Rwanda is expected to bring new agricultural techniques and opportunities, address food security challenges, and empower Rwandan youth in sustainable farming practices.
