Shaddyboo taken to rehab in Huye, not under arrest — RIB confirms

Rwandan social media personality Mbabazi Shadia, popularly known as Shaddyboo, has been admitted to a rehabilitation centre in Huye to receive support related to drug use, the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has confirmed.
The clarification follows reports circulating that Shaddyboo had been arrested. However, according to information published by IGIHE, RIB spokesperson Dr Murangira B. Thierry confirmed that she is not in detention but was instead referred to Isange Rehabilitation Centre voluntarily.
Dr Murangira said the decision was based on findings from a preliminary investigation and was aimed at helping Shaddyboo overcome drug use, access psychological support and identify underlying factors linked to the behaviour.
“Mbabazi Shadia is not detained. Based on the results from the investigation, and with her consent, RIB referred her to rehabilitation so she can receive support to stop using drugs, get psychological assistance and understand the root causes,” Dr Murangira was quoted as saying.
Shaddyboo was taken to the rehabilitation facility on July 6, 2026, as part of a support process rather than a criminal detention.
Her referral comes as investigations continue into allegations involving musician Yugi Umukaraza, who was arrested over accusations of sexual assault and drug-related offences involving Shaddyboo.
RIB confirmed that Yugi’s case file has been submitted to the prosecution, which will decide whether to bring the matter before court or take another legal step.
Shaddyboo is one of Rwanda’s most recognisable entertainment personalities, known for her strong presence on social media and influence in the local entertainment scene.
