Rwanda and Pakistan commit to strengthening cooperation in Science and Technology

Rwanda and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in science, education, and technology to empower young people and address unemployment through skills development.

The pledge was made during a visit by Rwanda’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Harerimana Fatou, to the Hazza Institute of Technology (HIT) in Islamabad on October 27, 2025. Ambassador Harerimana was received by the institute’s Director, Azhar Ikbal Sindhu, for discussions centered on expanding collaboration in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and technology advancement.

Their talks focused on exploring new opportunities for partnership in developing practical skills and innovation-driven education, aimed at equipping young people with market-relevant competencies to reduce unemployment. Both sides emphasized that knowledge exchange and cooperation are key pillars for sustainable future development.

Ambassador Harerimana reiterated Rwanda’s strong commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan in education and economic development — particularly in promoting technical skills, innovation, and technology. She noted that such efforts align with Rwanda’s broader vision to build a skilled workforce ready to meet future challenges.

She further highlighted that Rwanda and Pakistan share a common goal of advancing education-driven economic growth and fostering stronger people-to-people relations between the two nations.

In his remarks, Azhar Ikbal Sindhu stated that HIT offers internationally recognized programs in technology and technical education designed to equip students with practical knowledge and competitive skills for both local and global job markets.

The visit marked another step toward deepening Rwanda–Pakistan cooperation in human capital development, innovation, and technology exchange — areas viewed as essential for sustainable development in both countries.
