Rwanda’s Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources Dr. Ildephonse Musafiri together with Dr. Thelesphore Ndabamenye, Director General of Rwanda Agricultural and Animal Resources Board (RAB) have on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, welcomed a giant traditional healer and culture conservator known as Rutangarwamaboko, ‘Modeste Nzayisenga’ to discuss the role of endangered traditional food plants and trees in the wellbeing of Rwandans.
Their discussions also embarked on how to preserve some seeds of Rwandans’ ancestors such as Uburo, Amasaka, Isogi and Inzuzi, plus traditional endangered trees like Umuvumu, Umurinzi, Umwishywa and Ibikangaga among others.

Via the X platform, Rutangarwamaboko said he was much pleased to have a welcome by Dr. Musafiri to foster culture-based Livestock and Farming.
“Dear Lord, what can I compare with the traditional seeds of Rwanda such as Uburo, Amasaka, Isogi and Inzuzi in boosting good nutrition? Our ancestors and ever-lasting ghosts confirmed that their foods were their traditional medicines,” Rutangarwamaboko said via his X platform.
“What can we compare with our traditional trees and medicines in both yield and ecosystem protection?” he added.

Rutangarwamaboko Modeste Nzayisenga figures among the giant traditional healers and witches who publicly do traditional healing and witchcraft as Rwanda’s ancestors used to do.
According to UMUSEKE, Rutangarwamaboko believes that traditional beliefs will regain a place as life is a cycle that turns around. He holds two Master’s Degrees in Mental health clinics, culture, tourism and history.
