Renowned Rwandan Journalist Jean Lambert Gatare Passes Away in India

Veteran journalist Jean Lambert Gatare, who worked with various media outlets in Rwanda, passed away on the night leading to Saturday, March 22, 2025, in India, where he had traveled for medical treatment.

His passing was confirmed in the early hours of Saturday. Gatare had been in India for some time seeking medical care.

On Friday, March 21, his health deteriorated significantly, and he sadly passed away.

Gatare was one of Rwanda’s most beloved journalists, particularly known for his work in sports journalism and advertising.

He began his career at Radio Rwanda in 1995 before joining Isango Star in 2011. In 2020, he was appointed interim editor of Rushyashya newspaper.
