RCCDN, GER award best Agro-ecology farmers

On December 17, 2021, Rwanda Climate Change and Development Network (RCCDN) in partnership with Global Initiative for Environment and Reconciliation (GER) with the support from Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) provided awards to farmers who adopted agro-ecology best agricultural practices that are environmental friendly.

Awarded farmers returned home with a cheque of Rwf400,000.

Speaking during the awarding ceremony, Faustin Vuningoma, the Coordinator of Rwanda Climate Change and Development Network (RCCDN) said that the initiative is to recognize the efforts of the farmers in protecting and promoting environment through the best agricultural practices.

 We have farmers represented here working with our affiliated partner GER, they do environmental friendly agriculture and we appreciate such farmers who apply good environmental practices and we are here to award them.” Vuningoma said.

RCCDN has also announced its Brand Ambassador Nicole Uwineza who is currently film actor to help RCCDN deliver on its mandate to communicate the activities of member organizations.

“We have approach to communicate activities of civil societies, today we present you our brand ambassador who will communicate civil society activities within RCCDN throughout the country.” Added Vuningoma.

Innocent Musore, the Executive Director of GER lauded efforts by the Government of Rwanda in protecting and preserving environment through the collaboration with civil society organizations.

Musore has also encouraged more farmers to embrace agro-ecology so that to increase agriculture production and healthy food in the country.

GER’s Mission is to contribute to peace and reconciliation process and improving environmental conditions in Rwanda and Great lakes.

Musore has over10 years’ experience in peace building and community development interventions in Rwanda and Great lakes region. He is a strategic thinker with leadership and Facilitation skills.

“GER actions supporting to Improve relations among communities and lives. Our focus is next generations. We consider Climate change as challenge to peace building process and livehood.” He said.
