Meet Ishimwe Shaffy, Rwandan young King-Millionnaire of Holy Quran

Shaffy Ishimwe,20, from Gicumbi District has contested for many competitions of memorizing the Holy Quran in many countries including Rwanda, East Africa in Zanzibar, Kenya and in Dubai this year 2019.

He said that he has now transformed lives of his family after winning over Rwf1o million.

“I have won a lot of things a part from money, most especially the culture as the holy Quran teaches the culture and love. I have also won a lot of money, Rwf 10 million in Dubai, Rwf600,000 from Zanzibar, Rwf200,000, Rwf300,000 in different competitions in Rwanda. It helped me a lot, this money helps parents, I am looking on how to build a house, and do other projects,” Ishimwe told The Inspirer.

He said it can take longer or short to memorize the holy Quran by also preparing young generation to be patient when they grow up.

He encourages parents to teach children about reading the holy Quran and he tells children to leave out lures such as drug abuse and concentrate their efforts in reading the holy Quran.

He was inspired by other children he used to see on Televisions reading the Holy Quran.

He started reading the holy Quran at 13-year-old in 2014 with the target of memorizing the Holy Quran. He knows Swahili, Arabic and Kinyarwanda and he wants learning other languages.

He is now studying in senior four in Kenya.

Abdul Hamid Nsangira, the student in diaspora in South Arabia where he finishes masters, is among organizers of  Mustabakha competitions that will gather 25 countries from Africa,

“Through this competition of memorizing the holy Quran, we show the community that this is easy for a child between 6-11 year old to memorize it, whoever memorizes it is always led by peace, safety. The competition attracted 51 contestants including 33 foreign children from 24 African countries and 27 Rwandan children.

The best overall winner will be awarded USD $2500.

One of sponsors of the competition is Haya Al-Assaf Al-Assaf from South Arabia.

Sheihk Salleh Nshimiyimana, the Vice-Mufti of Rwanda said that this competition is vital for young Muslims as it improves their values and it is a good concentration that prevents them to be into lures.The Holy Quran has over 600 pages and helps to get wealth and culture for its readers. 

The competition started on Wednesday and will end on Sunday.
