Meet Bigirinka, Rwandan man touring the country for history, Culture enthusiasm

This project, according to him will help Rwandans learnt and know the country’s history and culture through a well-programmed teaching material he will complile after having toured all 416 sectors countrywide.

He urges elderly people, teachers, education activists and adults to help young generation know the history of rwanda and culture.

He will spend three months visiting Touristic areas such as hills, Mountains, former Kingdom palaces, ects.

“It is my passion to cross the country and arrive in every area with specific life, history and culture and also visiting Touristic sites that highlight the life of our ancestors. At the end of this journey, the information gathered will help me write a history supporting teaching book and a documentary film”. Bigirinka said.

This young man wants to revamp Rwanda’s tradition and real culture that seems to be disappearing.

“I talked to elderly people and told me that no girl could do non-authorised marriage/without parents and family’s guidance, no Rwandan could kill another, but all happened because some people ignored the culture and Rwandan values. I wish to bring it back and parents are the first ones to play a pivotal role by teaching children the culture that is rooted on the history,” he noted.

He requests Rwandans to look after Kingdom palaces, glaves, water sources and trees with specific history among others.

Elderly people affirm that rhe culture and history changed following the development and the world’s revolution.

“Everything changed with colonial period, traditional concerts or IBITARAMO and girls’evenings were ignored and replaced by what yhey called “Human rights. They prevented chilfren from giving parents ‘UMUGANURA” saying it is a full freedom, this undermined the culture”. Said Patricie Nyiramukamisha, 75, from Musanze District during the Interview with Umuseke.

Joseph Kamanzi, 68 recommend the Government to invest in culture and history sustainability and increase the ITORERO for young generation for at least six months to learn Rwandan History and culture.

He said it’s a shame for today’s wedding ceremonies that hire paid people to lead wedding ceremonies because young people don’t know how to do that.

Bigirinka began his journey on September 1st in Nyabihu District to end in December 2019.

He said he will spend around Rwf 5 million.
