Man Arrested After 23 Days on the Run for Allegedly Killing His Wife

Police in Muhanga District have arrested Emmanuel Ntaganzwa, who is suspected of brutally killing his wife and leaving her body in a room.

It has been over 23 days since security agencies, including the police and criminal investigation units, began searching for Emmanuel Ntaganzwa, who was wanted for allegedly murdering his spouse, Natalie Mukashyaka.

On the night of Tuesday, November 12, 2024, a resident alerted the police and neighborhood watch after spotting Ntaganzwa in the Remera area.

Célestin Ngendahimana told Umuseke that Ntaganzwa, who had been on the run for 23 days, arrived on a motorcycle intending to enter the house of a woman suspected to be his mistress. Ngendahimana immediately notified the neighborhood watch and police, who surrounded the house until Ntaganzwa was arrested.

He said, “We found two condoms in his pocket.”

Ngendahimana noted that Ntaganzwa had not yet entered the woman’s house, suspected to be his mistress’s residence.

He added, “It’s possible he was coming at night and leaving before dawn, but this time we were made aware.”

Emmanuel Bikorimana, the Executive Secretary of Gifumba Cell, stated that Ntaganzwa was arrested at around 2 a.m. because residents grew suspicious when a motorcycle arrived late at night.

He said, “The woman we suspect to be his mistress recently moved to that area.”

Bikorimana mentioned that Ntaganzwa is now in police custody, which was their goal.

It is alleged that on October 20, 2024, Ntaganzwa killed his wife, Natalie Mukashyaka, covering her body with a cloth and hiding her death from their children. He took the children out of school and brought them to Kibirizi Sector in Nyanza District, his hometown.

Ntaganzwa was an employee at a pharmacy in Muhanga town.

He and the deceased had three children. Ntaganzwa is currently detained at the RIB station in Nyamabuye Sector.
