Kagame meets with Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé

President Paul Kagame received his Togolese counterpart, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, who is on a working visit to Rwanda. The two leaders discussed various matters of mutual interest.

The meeting took place at the President’s office, Village Urugwiro, on Sunday afternoon.

Village Urugwiro later shared on X that the discussions were held behind closed doors, followed by talks with official delegations from both Rwanda and Togo.

President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé’s visit follows his previous trip to Rwanda in July 2024, where he attended President Kagame’s swearing-in ceremony.

Rwanda and Togo enjoy strong bilateral relations, with both countries having signed agreements to facilitate air travel between them.

In January 2017, Rwanda opened its diplomatic mission in Togo when Ambassador Stanislas Kamanzi presented his credentials to President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, accrediting him as Rwanda’s representative in the country.
