“I was a curse, condemned to die”: Emelyne ‘Ishanga’ finds salvation
By The Inspirer.
After months of being a hot topic on social media, Kwizera Emelyne, popularly known as Ishanga, has been baptized by immersion, publicly expressing her gratitude to God for saving her and giving her a new beginning.
Through her social media platforms, Emelyne shared photos from her baptism and thanked God for delivering her from a troubled past.
Baptized on November 8, 2025, she wrote: “I know it’s hard to understand, but that’s the truth. Thank you, Jesus, for your grace and love. Thank you for the salvation you gave me freely, though I didn’t deserve it. I was wicked, I was a curse, I was condemned, I was meant to die. I had ugly names, but you gave me a new one — a Friend of Jesus. Hallelujah!”
Quoting gospel-inspired lyrics, Emelyne continued to express deep joy for the transformation in her life:
“You took away my garment of shame and clothed me in white. Thank you, Jesus, for rescuing me from the enemy’s hands. I thank your precious blood that washed away my sins. I thank the cross, the empty tomb—but most of all, I thank you, my Lord Jesus!”
She also shared a verse from 2 Corinthians 5:17, writing: “If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; the old has gone, and the new has come. The enemy and the things of this world will no longer terrify me.”
Citing Galatians 6:14, she added: “As for me, I will boast only in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. As I died with Christ, I will rise with Him and continue to be like Him!”
Emelyne first became widely known in 2024 after photos of her posing with musician The Ben went viral, sparking online reactions over their apparent chemistry.
In early 2025, she again drew public attention after an explicit video involving her and friends surfaced online, leading to her arrest.
Investigations later revealed that the indecent acts were fueled by drug use, and Emelyne, along with others involved, was placed in a rehabilitation center for some time.
Today, she says she has left her past behind and begun a new spiritual journey—one she describes as her “rebirth in Christ.”
