Education and innovation are key to Rwanda’s tech-driven economic growth, says Minister Nsengimana
By Elias HAKIZIMANA.
Rwanda’s Minister of Education, Joseph Nsengimana, has emphasized that empowering citizens and developing their skills is critical for building a technology-driven economy.
Speaking at the Inclusive Fintech Forum 2026 in Kigali (March 10–12), Minister Nsengimana said that citizen capacity building is the foundation for innovation, expanding access to financial services, and fostering regional collaboration.
“Technology in financial services can thrive only when institutions, leaders, investors, policymakers, and education systems work together,” he noted.
The forum, which brought together more than 3,600 participants from 87 countries, included government officials, private sector leaders, and tech innovators. Discussions focused on central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) across Africa, the use of artificial intelligence in finance, and strategies to make financial services more inclusive.
This year’s event attracted 217 government and international organizations, 30 central banks, 413 fintech companies, and 97 investment firms, all working to advance technology-driven financial solutions across the continent.
