Rwanda U20 Women’s Team Departs for Nigeria in World Cup Qualifier

Rwanda’s U20 women’s national football team has left Kigali for Nigeria ahead of the return leg in the second round of the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

The delegation, composed of players, technical staff, and officials, departed Kigali International Airport on Wednesday morning for Lagos, before continuing to Ibadan, the host city for the crucial match.

Before departure, the Commissioner for Women’s Football, Nikita Gicanda, encouraged the young players to be fearless, determined, and energetic, stressing that such qualities would be key to securing a positive result against Nigeria.

The decisive encounter is set for Saturday, September 27, 2025. In the first leg played in Kigali, Rwanda narrowly lost 1–0.

The 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup will be hosted by Poland from September 5 to 27, 2026.
