Cycling: National teams set for mixed relay on day four of the World Championships

The 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Kigali, the first ever hosted on the African continent, enter their fourth day this Wednesday with national teams competing in the Mixed Team Time Trial Relay.

Since the competition began on September 21, riders have contested individual time trials across various categories—elite men and women, U23, juniors, and youth races—culminating in today’s team event.

On Wednesday, September 24, national teams composed of both men and women will race over a distance of 41.8 kilometers.

This morning, all teams carried out their final practice runs along the designated Kigali course, which includes routes from the Kigali Convention Centre (KCC) through Gishushu, MTN Centre, Nyarutarama Hill, Golf SOS loop, MINAGRI, KABC, RIB, Mediheal, Women Foundation Ministries, past the Office of the Ombudsman, before finishing back at KCC.

The race will officially start at 1:45 p.m., with Benin setting off first, followed by Uganda at 1:49 p.m. Ethiopia will take to the road before Rwanda, whose national team is scheduled to start at 1:57 p.m.

Team Rwanda will be represented by six riders: Patrick Byukusenge, Eric Nkundabera, Mike Uwiduhaye, Diane Ingabire, Xaverine Nirere, and Claudett Nyirarukundo.
