By The Inspirer.
The ruling Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF-Inkotanyi) is set to commence its party primaries on Saturday, February 24, marking the start of the process to select party flagbearers for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for July 15.
The announcement was made by Wellars Gasamagera, the party Secretary General, during a press conference held on Friday, February 23, at the party headquarters in Rusororo, Gasabo District.
Gasamagera disclosed that the three-week-long primaries will involve party members at all levels, from grassroots to national.
“We are confident that the process will proceed smoothly, as it has in the past. We anticipate strong participation throughout,” Gasamagera stated.

Regarding the agenda for the next term, Gasamagera reiterated that the party will convene its congress to announce its representatives and unveil the manifesto for the upcoming five-year period.
“This is an institutional activity that we plan to announce in April 2024, during the party congress. It will also be an opportunity for us to reflect on the accomplishments of the previous term.”
Abdallah Utumatwishima, the RPF commissioner in charge of political mass mobilization, emphasized the party’s focus on selecting candidates capable of implementing its manifesto for the benefit of Rwandans.
“We urge our members to approach this exercise with the seriousness it deserves.”
The forthcoming elections will be a combined event following the amalgamation of the presidential and parliamentary polls through amendments to the national electoral law.
