Over 4,800 university graduates’ projects to benefit from Rwf11 billion BDF funding

At least 4,826 projects worth Rwf11.5 billion are set to benefit from this funding scheme this year according to the Business Development Fund (BDF) Officials.

Last year, 2,083 bankable projects worth over Rwf11 billion were achieved. This funding will go to Small and Medium projects and will target fresh graduates. BDF announced this on Thursday January 31^st, 2019 in a press conference in Kigali.

BDF Chief Executive Officer, Innocent Bulindi said that young graduates’ proposed projects will be funded, pointing out that they do not require huge budget as it is estimated  to an average of Rwf6.5 million, each.

Bulindi noted that the funding will not change the current requirements to fund the projects. He said that it will help create more jobs for youth annually to tackle unemployment challenge.

Unemployment rate is 13.2 percent in Rwanda as defined in current figures.

“In 2018, BDF impacted over 10,000 lives including men, women and youth through 2083 projects by spending Rwf11,035,396,916 on all projects, this year, we are planning to work very hard and achieve our target of 4,827 projects by spending Rwf 11,546,424,894,” he said.
