Thug armed with machete falls to death as security officers chase him

Last night two thieves went to steal a goat from a resident’s house in Nyamiyaga Sector in Kamonyi District, cutting off the security officers who intervened and one of the thieves who ran away fell on the ground and died.

The incident took place in Kamabuye Village in Ngoma Cell at around midnight on Saturday night.

The Executive Secretary of Nyamiyaga Sector, Jean de Dieu Kubwimana, told IGIHE that the thieves were going to steal goats from a resident; and entered the house, taken them out of their sleeping quarters and owners immediately shouted, and the security guards ‘irondo’arrived to fight them.

“The thieves raided the house of a resident and opened a house that hosted two goats. Owners of goats called for a patrol and took one thief with unidentified name, who immediately cut the one of security guards on the head and fell to the ground.” Kubwimana said.

He added that the thieves were chased away but one of them fell to the ground on a stone and hit his head and died.

“It’s a very desolate place, we found out he might have hit his head on a big stone and died.”

The deceased was taken to Kacyiru Hospital for autopsy.

The injured security personnel taken to Migina Health Center but the severed injured man on the head was given a referral paper for body expertise for further check up.  

Kubwimana said the names of the deceased are still being sought because they are not yet known and once they are identified will help investigating other thieves.

Kubwimana called on those who commit crimes including theft and violence to stop it and instead engage in work for the betterment and development of the people.

He called on the public to continue cooperating in security and avoid vengeance when they arrest a suspect, but hand him/her over to the authorities or the security entities.
