TAJYIRE launches robotics and skills ecosystem to boost Rwanda’s digital transformation

TAJYIRE Group Holdings Ltd has on June 25, 2026, launched three interconnected innovation initiatives aimed at strengthening Rwanda’s digital skills development, expanding STEM education, and linking learning to employment opportunities within a growing technology ecosystem.
The initiatives, unveiled under the theme “Building Rwanda’s Digital Future,” include the TAJYIRE Robotic System for School Learners, the TecBridge Program, and the TAJYIRE Distribution Engine (TDE). Together, they are designed to create a pathway that connects education, innovation, and market access for young people.
The launch brought together representatives from the Rwanda TVET Board (RTB), the Ministry of ICT and Innovation (MINICT), educators, and private sector stakeholders.

RTB backs stronger industry–education collaboration
Speaking at the event, RTB officials welcomed the initiative, saying it strengthens the link between technical education and industry.
Emmanuel Asher Mutijima, Digital Technologies Division Manager at RTB, said TAJYIRE provides a practical platform where learners can gain real-world experience.
“TAJYIRE is a strong example of how technical education can be connected to industry needs. It provides internships, industrial attachments, and pathways into employment,” he said.
He added that discussions are ongoing between RTB and TAJYIRE on accreditation of training programs to ensure learners receive recognized certification.

TAJYIRE founder and CEO Lambert Gahungu said the initiative reflects the company’s goal of building an integrated ecosystem that combines training, innovation, and market access.
He said the organization operates a structure that includes a marketplace, training center, and research and development unit, all working together.
“We are building an ecosystem that connects training, innovation, and the market so that skills can directly translate into opportunities,” he said.
Gahungu noted that more than 1,300 technicians and electronics traders are already part of TAJYIRE’s ecosystem in Kigali.
He added that the model will be expanded to secondary cities across Rwanda to widen access to technical training and innovation opportunities.

Three initiatives designed to build future-ready skills
The three initiatives launched include a robotics education program for learners, a scholarship-based training initiative for underserved youth, and an integrated distribution system linking production, training, and market access.
The robotics system introduces students to coding and engineering through practical learning using modular kits and structured progression from basic to advanced programming.
The TecBridge Program focuses on digital skills, electronics, and entrepreneurship training, targeting young people with limited access to formal technical education.
The Distribution Engine (TDE) connects suppliers, manufacturers, training centers, and distributors into a unified system aimed at improving efficiency and scaling innovation.
Gahungu also emphasized the need for Africa to move from consuming technology to producing it.

“These technologies are already shaping the world. The question is whether we will produce or only consume them,” he said, calling for stronger collaboration between government, academia, and the private sector.
Representing the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, Erneste Mpundu from the Digital Inclusion Council said the initiative aligns with Rwanda’s digital transformation goals.
He said the country is experiencing rising demand for digital skills, especially with the growth of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
“It is encouraging to see youth-led initiatives focusing on skills development and job creation. Rwanda needs innovators who can both use and create technology,” he said.

Students welcome hands-on learning opportunities
Students who visited the TAJYIRE center said it helped bridge the gap between theory and practice in technical education.
A Senior Five student in Electronics and Telecommunications, Shema Alain, said lack of equipment has often limited practical learning in schools.
“What I saw at TAJYIRE is impressive. This platform can really help TVET students,” he said, calling for more investment in practical training opportunities.
Another student, Nirere Husna, said the center helped her better understand classroom lessons through hands-on experience and urged expansion of similar centers across the country.
