Skol and Bralirwa will not participate to the 23rd Interanational Trade Fair

Rwanda’s giant brewering companies Skol and Bralirwa will not participate to Rwanda International trade fair that is going to be held at the 23rd time.

The announcement was done by Stephen Ruzibiza, Chief Executive Officer of the Private Sector Federation (PSF) on December 9, 2020 during a press conference at PSF Head Quarters in Kigali.

He said that the two giant Brewering firms will not come to exhibit their products but restaurants will participate and sell food and all kinds of beverages including those from Skol and Bralirwa.

The changes come to complement the government’s preventive measures against Covid-19 as currently Bars are not allowed to serve beer.

The Rwanda International trade fair used to take place in June and July every year and this was hampered by coronavirus this year.

It is expected to start on December 11, 2020 to end on December 31,2020.

Among 400 invited exhibitors, 373 including 301 Rwandans and 72 foreigners have confirmed their attendance so far.

Twelve (12) countries are expected to participate as exhibitors.

The official kick off of the fair is scheduled on December 15, 2020 while the official ceremony to award best exhibitors will be on December 29, 2020.

The payment of tickets will be done electronically by using Airtel and Mobile money to avoid the spread of Covid-19.

Participants and exhibitors are encouraged to load money on their mobile money accounts before they come to the exhibition.

Further Exceptions

Ruzibiza said that children under 12 years will not participate because it is difficult to control them and help them to abide with the covid-19 prevention measures.

Exhibitors of children game kits will not participate because children will not too.

“We banned the game kits of children under 12 years old to reduce their risk of Covid-19 contamination.” Ruzibiza noted.

Safety and security will be ensured on roads and in the exhibition compounds and boundaries according to CP John Bosco Kabera, the spokesperson of Rwanda National Police.

CP Kabera said that a police station will be employed in the exhibition premises to cater for safety and security of exhibitors, visitors and clients.
