Rwandan young in agribusiness secures $100m deal to export Chili every year

Diego Twahirwa, the founder and owner of Gashora Farms has signed a 5-year agreement with the Chinese GK International Enterprises to supply 50,000 MT of dry Chili worth USD 100 million every year.
Twahirwa is the country’s leading chili export firm based in Bugesera District.
He is a member of Rwanda Youth in Agribusiness Forum, which brings together all 12,000 youth in agribusiness countrywide.

They are in five clusters namely; crop production, livestock, agro-processing, inputs and other Agro-services (extension, marketing, food packaging, farm mechanization, seed multiplication etc.) as well as ICT for Agriculture in Rwanda.
His firm addresses challenges of post-harvest losses by producing chili oil (branded Didi’s Chilli Oil) and is exploring the expansion of its value-added product line with the production of pulp and chili powder.
