Rwandan armies praised for providing free medical services in Central African Republic

Rwandan armies serving in the United Nations mission (MINUSCA) in the Central African Republic (RWABATT-1) have been commended for offering free medical services to residents of Bambouti, located in the eastern region of the country.

The services included screenings and treatment for various illnesses, such as malaria, sexually transmitted infections, gastrointestinal issues, dental problems, eye conditions, skin diseases, and malnutrition-related concerns.

Ndiaye Goumba, the deputy leader of Bambouti, praised the Rwandan forces for their role in addressing both health and security challenges in the area.

Bambouti, located in the Haut-Mbomou province, had long been affected by armed groups, including the Union for Peace in the Central African Republic (UPC) and Azande.

In May 2024, Rwandan troops were deployed to the region to protect civilians, ensure security, combat the armed groups, and restore essential services.
