President Kagame named African of the Year for advancing Africa’s Development

The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, has been awarded the title of African of the Year for 2024, in recognition of his dedication to driving transformative changes for Africa’s advancement.

This award was presented to President Kagame on Thursday, October 24, 2024, as part of the All Africa Business Leaders Awards (AABLA), which honors exceptional political and business leaders for their impactful contributions to positive development across the African continent. The awards are organized by CNBC Africa in partnership with various stakeholders.

Ambassador Emmanuel Hategeka, Rwanda’s envoy to Ethiopia, accepted the award on President Kagame’s behalf.

Through the platform X, he shared that “President Kagame dedicates this award to the countless men, women, and young people working tirelessly to build a strong and prosperous Africa.”

He further conveyed Kagame’s appreciation to the organizers, quoting the President: “Let us continue to lead with purpose, foster innovation, and set an example for future African leaders. Together, we can build an Africa that not only progresses rapidly but also shapes its future and steers the global agenda.”

The award organizers commended President Kagame for frequently demonstrating that Africa has the inherent resources and capabilities needed for its own development.
